Raise your voice for gun safety in Illinois by filling out witness slips!
Members of the public may fill out a “witness slip” to show opposition or support to bills assigned to committee in the Illinois General Assembly. Electronic witness slips can be submitted up to the conclusion of the committee hearing (House) and the end of the day of the committee hearing's scheduled date (Senate). However, then the time period to submit witness slips expires. Therefore it is important to complete the witness slips as soon as possible. It is easy to do and takes just a few minutes. You do not need to go to Springfield to fill out a witness slip and express your position on a bill to the Illinois General Assembly.

4.) Complete the Position section. Select your position on the legislative item. You may file as a proponent (in favor/support of) or an opponent (in opposition to/against) of the piece of legislation. If there is an amendment to the bill, you may need to select the amendment from the menu in this section.
5.) Complete the Testimony section. Select the testimony types that you will supply for the hearing. If you do not intend to offer oral testimony or file a written statement, check the Record of Appearance Only box. This will allow your position on the piece of legislation to be known without having to physically appear.
